Chapter 10: Killing Him Would Be Like Killing a Chicken

"Oh my, dear son-in-law, the auspicious hour is almost upon us — why are you still standing here!" An old matron came rushing over and hurried Qin Guan away.

Before long, melodious wedding music filled the air. The bride, adorned in her Phoenix Crown and Ceremonial Robe, was gently guided by the wedding attendant, her lotus steps light and graceful as she made her way toward the equally splendidly dressed groom.

The bride stood tall and elegant, her slender figure draped in the Phoenix Crown and Ceremonial Robe, making her look like an immortal descended from the heavens. She moved in small, delicate steps, her willowy form swaying like a slender branch in a gentle breeze — every step suffused with softness and grace.

Beneath the red veil, Nan Rou's lovely face resembled a flower bud on the verge of blooming, barely concealing the shy blush that colored her heart.

Watching Nan Rou walk toward him, Qin Guan felt his heart overflow with tenderness. Thinking of how the two of them had come together through a series of unexpected twists of fate, he sighed inwardly — destiny truly was a wondrous thing.

"We invite the bride and groom to perform the Three Bows!"

"First bow to Heaven and Earth — in gratitude for the grace of creation, two hearts bound as one!"

"Second bow to the honored elders — in gratitude for the virtue of those above, who have brought this blessed union to pass!"

Gazing at the perfect pair before him, Nan Yunqi's heart brimmed with joy, his eyes filled with warmth and contentment. Beside him, Yang Hongmei wore a smile as well, though it looked somewhat strained and unnatural.

"And now, husband and wife—"

The officiant was just about to announce the final step when the bright hall suddenly darkened. In a moment, the brilliant light receded like a tide.

Everyone was startled and turned to look outside the hall.

Above the Nan Family estate, a vast mass of dark clouds had appeared from nowhere, layer upon layer blotting out the sky.

A celestial omen had appeared!

At that moment, several powerful cultivators throughout Luyun City turned their gazes toward the Nan Family's direction.

Whoosh!

Just then, from within the Nan Family's cultivation chamber, a dazzling golden sword light shot straight into the heavens. In an instant, the heavy dark clouds were all dyed in a brilliant, resplendent gold.

As the sword light pierced into the vault of the sky, a mighty and majestic dragon's roar reverberated through the clouds.

The sound seemed to come from an ancient primordial beast, causing the very void to tremble!

"True Dragon Sword Intent! Someone in the Nan Family has awakened the True Dragon Sword Intent!"

In an instant, every powerful cultivator in Luyun City rushed toward the Nan Family estate.

"Reporting to the Family Head — Young Master Yang Ao has awakened the True Dragon Sword Intent. The celestial omen in the sky was drawn by him!"

In the Nan Family's wedding hall, a servant came sprinting in to deliver the news.

"What!"

Nan Yunqi shot to his feet the moment he heard it.

"Ha ha! Worthy of being my own nephew!" Upon learning that Yang Ao had awakened the True Dragon Sword Intent, Yang Hongmei broke into a wide, uncontrollable grin. She glanced around at everyone and snapped:

"What are you all standing around for? Go quickly and offer your congratulations to my nephew!"

In the blink of an eye, the already sparse crowd that had attended Qin Guan and Nan Rou's wedding all rushed out.

Seeing Qin Guan and Nan Rou standing there in awkward silence, Nan Yunqi hurriedly said, "You two wait here a moment — I'll go take a look!" With that, he too ran out.

Watching this unfold, Qin Guan's expression darkened. Motherfucker — they hadn't even finished the ceremony yet!

Inside the cultivation chamber, Yang Ao, having just awakened the True Dragon Sword Intent, stepped out with measured strides. His chin was slightly raised, and the corners of his mouth curled into a smug arc.

Yang Ao swept his gaze across the crowd, his eyes radiating an overbearing brilliance. In that moment, he suddenly felt like an invincible war god surveying a horde of insignificant ants.

"Congratulations, Young Master Yang! To awaken the rare True Dragon Sword Intent at such a young age — you are truly a prodigy of extraordinary talent!"

"Young Master Yang is already a Sword Cultivator, and now he has awakened such a formidable True Dragon Sword Intent. Even if his Cultivation is only at the Qi Refinement Realm, he could likely cross ranks and slay an expert of the Spirit Refinement Realm with ease!"

"Indeed — the younger generation will surpass us in time!"

All around, various family factions showered him with flattery. Previously, they had not attended Qin Guan's wedding for fear of offending Tianbao Pavilion.

But now things were different. Yang Ao had awakened the True Dragon Sword Intent — he was destined for greatness. They could not afford to miss this chance to curry favor.

"Brother Nan, your Nan Family is truly on the rise! First, someone with the rare Yin Spirit Physique appeared, and now a Sword Cultivator who has awakened the True Dragon Sword Intent — it won't be long before the Nan Family becomes a first-rate noble house. When that day comes, you must look after our Song Family!"

"Indeed, Brother Nan — don't forget us once you've made it big!"

"Ha ha, of course, of course!" Hearing the flattery from people who normally wouldn't spare the Nan Family a second glance, Nan Yunqi couldn't help but let a look of pride show on his face.

"Ao'er, you have awakened the True Dragon Sword Intent — you've truly brought honor to our Yang Family. Your aunt is sincerely proud of you from the bottom of her heart!"

Yang Hongmei walked proudly to Yang Ao's side. She had spoken loudly on purpose — she wanted Nan Yunqi to understand clearly that Yang Ao was a man of her own family, not of the Nan Family, and whether he stayed with the Nan Family depended entirely on her goodwill.

Yang Ao had gotten into trouble with the Yang Family a few years ago and had traveled a great distance to seek her out. She had taken exceptional care of her nephew, no less than she had for Nan Qiao. So Yang Hongmei was confident that Yang Ao would listen to her.

Hearing Yang Hongmei's words, Nan Yunqi's expression became visibly uncomfortable not far away. He forced a smile — his own wife was openly slapping him in the face in front of everyone without the slightest restraint. How fortunate he was to have married such a woman…

"Cousin Brother, congratulations!" Nan Qiao also stepped forward to offer her congratulations to Yang Ao.

"Junior Sister."

Seeing Nan Qiao approach, Yang Ao, who had been wearing an air of superiority, reined in a trace of his arrogance.

Then Yang Ao asked with some curiosity, "Aunt, Junior Sister — is someone getting married in the Nan Family today?"

He had noticed that the Nan Family members were all dressed in festive attire, with red decorations adorning their clothing.

"Today is that sickly Nan Rou getting married off — they brought in a live-in son-in-law for her."

Yang Hongmei said with undisguised disdain. She had been somewhat wary of Qin Guan before, but now that her nephew had awakened the True Dragon Sword Intent, a third-gate Martial Artist was nothing to fear.

"Heh."

Hearing that it was Nan Rou getting married, Yang Ao let out a faint laugh, his face making no effort to conceal his contempt. A woman on the verge of death, and someone actually wanted to marry her — whoever married her must have no brains and no prospects.

"Young Master, you've finally come out of seclusion!"

Just then, a servant came running over and leaned close to Yang Ao's ear, whispering something.

"What!" Yang Ao's expression erupted in fury upon hearing it. Streaks of sharp sword qi suddenly manifested around his body.

Everyone present frowned at the sight — what news could Yang Ao have received to make him fly into such a rage?

"Ao'er, what's wrong?" Yang Hongmei asked urgently.

Yang Ao said furiously, "That man called Qin Guan actually killed my Cousin Brother Hu Liu — where is he?"

Not far away, Nan Yunqi's expression shifted dramatically the moment he heard this, and he rushed over. "Yang Ao, don't be rash — this is all a misunderstanding!"

"What misunderstanding? Hu Liu was beaten to death by Qin Guan. Ao'er, your aunt has been silently enduring this matter all along." Yang Hongmei said in a low, grave voice.

"Aunt, where is he?" Yang Ao said coldly.

"In the main courtyard — he's today's groom." Yang Hongmei replied.

"No matter who he is — even if he's the groom — I'll make him pay with his life today!" With that, Yang Ao strode furiously toward the main courtyard.

"Ao'er, don't be rash! That Qin Guan is a third-gate Martial Artist — even your uncle was no match for him!" Yang Hongmei suddenly recalled something and called out urgently.

Hearing Yang Hongmei's words, several of the surrounding family factions were visibly shocked — they hadn't expected that the Nan Family's live-in son-in-law was actually a third-gate Martial Artist.

"So what if he's a third-gate Martial Artist? Now that I've awakened the True Dragon Sword Intent, killing him would be like killing a chicken!"
