Chapter 13: You Still Can't Afford to Provoke This Person
"You're Liu An?" Qin Ruo didn't withdraw his leg, his gaze slanting at the old man before him.
"That's me. Hearing about you doesn't compare to meeting you in person. Young Master Qin truly lives up to your reputation as an outstanding figure among men. Seeing you today confirms it," Liu An said respectfully.
"Heh, Old Liu, look at my situation now—about to be hauled off to jail. We won't have a chance to meet again after this," Qin Ruo laughed. Though he spoke of going to prison, his face showed not a trace of worry.
"Haha, Little Zhang was just joking with you. How could someone like you end up in a filthy place like that? Come here, quickly uncuff Young Master Qin!" Liu An said with a serious expression.
The beautiful policewoman Lin Yan'er stared wide-eyed in shock, key in hand, ready to unlock Qin Ruo's handcuffs.
"No need."
Qin Ruo stood up nimbly, flexed his hand, and the pure aluminum alloy handcuffs snapped apart instantly. This scene sent chills through every officer present, their gazes toward Qin Ruo now filled with fear.
Turns out this guy wasn't just bluffing—he was the real deal.
"Old Liu, I don't have time to chat. I've got things to do, so I'm heading out." Qin Ruo turned to Lin Yan'er beside him with a cheeky grin. "Beauty, see you around."
"Take care, Young Master Qin."
After watching Qin Ruo walk away, Liu An called out. Once he was out of sight, Liu An's smile faded, revealing his true stern expression.
The interrogation room fell silent. Zhang Tiejun was drenched in cold sweat, his body trembling slightly.
Liu An lifted his icy gaze and fixed it on Zhang Tiejun. "Little Zhang, do you have any idea what kind of trouble you've stirred up?"
Zhang Tiejun shook his head blankly.
"Elder Liu, do you know who that man is?" Lin Yan'er asked curiously.
Liu An smiled, giving Lin Yan'er an appreciative glance before turning to Zhang Tiejun with a cold tone. "Little Zhang, if you'd actually thrown him in jail, heh, not only would a mere city bureau chief like you be done for—even the big shots backing you would come tumbling down. He's someone you absolutely can't afford to offend!"
"Elder Liu, just tell me who he is!" Zhang Tiejun was full of doubts. How much power could a twenty-something young man have? Was he the son of some provincial bigwig?
But even that wouldn't make it easy to take him down, especially with his own unusually close ties to major figures in the province.
Zhang Tiejun was utterly baffled.
"You're not qualified to know yet!" Liu An snorted coldly. "Remember this: stay away from him from now on. If trouble comes, no one can save you."
Leaving the police station, Qin Ruo stretched lazily, a wave of comfort washing over him from head to toe. He took in the vibrant cityscape along the way, in a great mood.
Maybe everyone feels this way after leaving a police station?
Half an hour later, Qin Ruo returned to the restaurant. It was empty, save for Xia Fei Xuan in her work uniform, dozing off bored at the front desk.
Spotting Qin Ruo, she jumped up excitedly and grabbed his arm. "Landlord, are you okay?"
Seeing her genuine concern, Qin Ruo felt a touch moved deep down. It had been years since a woman cared about him like this. He pulled a funny face. "Haha, what could happen to your all-powerful landlord?"
"Hmph, cocky braggart!" Xia Fei Xuan awkwardly withdrew her hand. Qin Ruo smiled at her. "No business today anyway. Let's head back!"
"What about my wages?" Xia Fei Xuan stared at him with pitiful eyes.
Qin Ruo helplessly rubbed his head. This little money-grubber looked like she couldn't survive without cash.
How could he know that lately, Xia Fei Xuan was dirt poor and going crazy, her eyes glued daily to the two golden cats overhead, her greed for money betraying her passion for everything else?
But thinking of the consequences, she gritted her teeth.
"Wages as usual," Qin Ruo said speechlessly.
"Yay, Landlord, you're the best! Hee hee." Xia Fei Xuan cheered, darting back to change out of her uniform, revealing her original sexy beauty.
The two walked back to the villa like a couple, drawing envious or jealous stares from passersby.
Qin Ruo felt an indescribable smugness, every glance seeming to scream that the beauty beside him was his girlfriend.
"Landlord, why do I feel like you're gloating a bit?" Xia Fei Xuan asked curiously from the side.
"Huh, am I?" Qin Ruo quickly put on a gentlemanly facade.
"Yes, you totally are!" Xia Fei Xuan retorted.
"No!"
"Yes!"
