Chapter 1: Got into a Black Cab

Chapter 1: Got into a Black Cab

The night was as dark as ink, and a taxi sped along the road. Dai Keni stole a glance at the driver, suddenly feeling restless.

In the dead of night, a young woman like her had gotten into a taxi. At first, she hadn't thought anything was wrong, but now this deadly panic spread through her mind, leaving her distraught.

She had been far too careless.

The taxi driver was a burly man in his thirties, with a fierce appearance—bald head, wide mouth, full beard, and a face full of savage flesh.

Even worse, through the rearview mirror, Dai Keni had noticed more than once that the bald driver was secretly watching her, with a creepy smile occasionally curling at the corners of his mouth.

What to do? This guy's a bad guy!

Dai Keni nervously picked up her phone. If this driver had ill intentions, she would call the police immediately.

She stole another tense glance at the bald driver, then carefully shifted her gaze to the man sitting beside her.

This man was about twenty-four or twenty-five, somewhat handsome, tall and sturdy, dressed in black casual clothes.

But his behavior was utterly repulsive. After one glance, Dai Keni had no interest in looking again.

The man was holding a book with an incredibly tantalizing cover—it was a Japanese translation, marked 18+, and he was staring at it with rapt fascination, practically drooling.

"This guy must be one of them!" Dai Keni thought to herself.

Ten minutes later, the black cab suddenly pulled over to a rundown auto repair shop by the roadside. The place was dilapidated, flickering with a few dim lights in the darkness—it was clearly a shady joint.

The driver grinned insincerely: "The car's got a problem. The tire was punctured by something. You two get out first."

Dai Keni clutched her LV bag tightly as she got out, her unease growing stronger. The young man carefully tucked away his book, opened the door, and got out nimbly without saying a word from start to finish.

Not far away, there was a square eight-immortal table where four or five muscular tattooed men were gambling. They were spouting vulgarities and curses. When they saw the car arrive, they immediately stopped and stood up.

The men glanced at the bald guy, then at Dai Keni, swallowing hard, their eyes filled with lust.

As for the young man beside her, they completely ignored him.

One of them, a triang-eyed man, chuckled嘿嘿: "Baldy, nice haul this time!"

"Of course. She's all yours now. Sigh, such a flower-like beauty—I hate to see her get hurt." The bald man said this, but his gaze on Dai Keni was filled with beastly possessiveness.

The tattooed men approached with狞笑 grins. Dai Keni hugged her chest in fright: "What do you want?"

"Heh heh, what do we want? The heiress of Dai Group. Sorry, we've been paid—someone wants you dead!" The triang-eyed man sneered coldly.

"Ah!" Dai Keni froze upon hearing this, her mind in chaos, unable to utter a word.

"So, sorry, time to die!" A man beside Triang-Eyes lunged forward with a dagger, stabbing viciously at Dai Keni.

His steps were compact, moving like lightning—he was clearly a trained fighter.

Qin Ruo, standing by the black cab, opened his sleepy eyes with a startling gaze.

"I can give you money! I have lots of money! Please don't kill me!" Dai Keni, feeling death so close, pleaded desperately, trying to buy her life with cash.

"Sorry, Night Dragon Gang takes money to do jobs. Even if you offer more, we can't accept. It'd break the rules of the underworld—no more business after that." The man wasn't swayed by her offer, dagger still thrusting rapidly, a hint of cruelty in his eyes.

"Am I going to die?" Dai Keni smiled bitterly and closed her eyes, tears streaming from her beautiful eyes as her short life flashed through her mind.

"Hey, a bunch of guys bullying one woman—aren't you ashamed? And such a stunning beauty at that—don't you know what pitying the fairer sex means?" At that moment, a magnetic male voice suddenly rang in her ears.
