Chapter 5: The Chaos Art
"Not yet!" Ling'er said softly.
"This woman is truly persistent!" Chu Feng frowned slightly upon hearing this.
The gap between his current cultivation and Mu Qingyao's was far too great. If Mu Qingyao kept watch outside, he had no way of leaving.
It seemed he had no choice but to outlast her — a battle of patience to see who could hold out longer.
After a short while, Chu Feng sat cross-legged on the ground.
He was preparing to break through to the Spirit Entry Stage, and for that, he needed to choose his cultivation technique for this lifetime.
In his previous life, Chu Feng had cultivated the Netherworld Demon Art, which complemented his Netherworld Demon Body perfectly, allowing him to achieve twice the results with half the effort.
In this life, however, his constitution was the Nine Yang Body, making the Netherworld Demon Art no longer suitable.
The Nine Yang Body was merely an ordinary constitution. The demonesses of the Chalu Palace did favor this type of constitution, as the Nine Yang Body was a top-tier physique for dual cultivation.
However, the Nine Yang Body offered no amplifying effect on cultivation itself.
Chu Feng quickly scanned through his memories of all the cultivation techniques he had acquired in his previous life, and ultimately settled on one of unknown rank: the Chaos Art!
The Chaos Art was something Chu Feng had obtained inside a chaos secret realm. This technique could absorb any Spiritual Energy between heaven and earth for cultivation.
Even demonic energy could be absorbed and refined.
Moreover, using the Chaos Art allowed one to wield any spiritual technique.
Spiritual techniques that normally required demonic power to activate could be executed with the Chaos Art just the same!
However, this technique required one to begin cultivating from the Body Tempering Stage, pushing every realm to its extreme limit before a breakthrough could be made.
It was also exceedingly difficult to cultivate, demanding far more resources than ordinary techniques.
Yet those who cultivated the Chaos Art would be far stronger than peers at the same level — even challenging enemies across entire major stages was commonplace for them!
One could say the Chaos Art was the most supreme cultivation technique in existence!
In his previous life, Chu Feng had already reached the Imperial Stage, making it impossible to abandon his cultivation and start over.
However, in his previous life, Chu Feng had passed the Chaos Art down to his pair of twin disciples: Luo Xuan and Luo Xue!
After the two of them cultivated the Chaos Art, the results were remarkable — they could frequently defeat enemies an entire major stage or two above them.
In this life, Chu Feng's cultivation had just been crippled, which meant he could start cultivating the Chaos Art from the Body Tempering Stage!
In his previous life, Chu Feng had witnessed every stage of Luo Xuan and Luo Xue's cultivation of the Chaos Art firsthand. In this life, his own cultivation of it would be twice as efficient.
"I wonder how Xuan'er and Xue'er are doing?"
Thinking of Luo Xuan and Luo Xue, Chu Feng's thoughts drifted involuntarily.
In his previous life, the elder sister Luo Xuan had commanded his most powerful Netherworld Guard, while the younger sister Luo Xue had overseen his commercial empire.
The two sisters had been utterly devoted to him. After his death, they must have been devastated.
Now, Chu Feng could only hope that the two of them would not act impulsively and seek revenge on his behalf — that they would preserve their strength and wait for his return.
Otherwise...
At the thought that Luo Xuan and Luo Xue might come to harm, Chu Feng swore with fierce resolve:
"Whoever dares to hurt them — when I return to the Upper Realm, I will tear them apart piece by piece!"
At the same time, Chu Feng felt an urgent desire to grow stronger quickly and return to the Upper Realm.
After a long while, Chu Feng finally came back to his senses. He immediately began circulating the spiritual power within his body according to the Chaos Art's incantation and started cultivating.
The star world was drained of spiritual power — it was no place for cultivation.
However, during his earlier battle with Mu Qingyao, Chu Feng had stored a great deal of spiritual power within his body.
At the time, he could have broken through to the Spirit Entry Stage directly, but in order to cultivate the Chaos Art, he had deliberately held himself back!
Now was the perfect moment to refine the spiritual power stored within him.
In a normal cultivation system, each major stage had only nine levels.
But when cultivating the Chaos Art, above the ninth level lay an additional extreme realm.
The extreme realm served to consolidate the entire major stage — the ultimate sublimation of that stage!
As Chu Feng continuously circulated the Chaos Art, the bones within his body began to crack and resonate, his inner energy sea and meridians expanded steadily, and dark impurities began seeping through the surface of his skin.
From the very beginning, the Chaos Art carried the effect of cleansing the marrow and refining the bones — something no other technique possessed.
Three days later, Chu Feng finally exhausted the spiritual power stored within his body, and at last broke through the extreme realm of the Body Tempering Stage, advancing to the Spirit Entry Stage!
"Refreshing!"
Chu Feng exhaled a long, turbid breath and cried out in excitement.
Having broken through to the Spirit Entry Stage, he could now faintly draw upon the Spiritual Energy of heaven and earth and employ some of the techniques from his previous life.
He now had at least some ability to protect himself — no longer someone that anyone could bully at will.
A short while later, without a care for Ling'er standing nearby, Chu Feng stripped off his clothes and plunged into the river not far away to wash off the filth on his body!
"Chu Feng, you exhibitionist!"
Seeing Chu Feng suddenly undress, Ling'er let out an indignant cry!
Chu Feng burst into laughter at the sight.
Ling'er was a little scatterbrained, but she was adorable. Teasing her always put him in a good mood.
Chu Feng slowly scrubbed the impurities from his body until every last trace was washed clean.
Just as Chu Feng was about to wash and dry his tattered clothes, Ling'er produced a set of garments from somewhere and tossed them to him.
"Where did you get these clothes? Don't tell me they've been sitting around for millions of years?"
Chu Feng exclaimed in astonishment.
For clothes to have survived that long, they would surely have to be a peerless treasure.
But after a careful inspection, Chu Feng found that the clothes were entirely ordinary.
"From my storage ring — I've forgotten how many years they've been in there," Ling'er said casually.
Chu Feng examined the clothes a moment longer, found nothing amiss, and put them on.
"A perfect fit!"
The clothes seemed to have been made specifically for Chu Feng — they fit him perfectly.
With the filth washed away and the elegant garments on, Chu Feng looked like an entirely different person.
Handsome and refined, he looked every bit like a young noble from a distinguished family.
If Chu Feng were to appear before Mu Qingyao now, she likely wouldn't even recognize him.
"Mm! Those clothes look wonderful on you!"
"You look countless times better than before!" Ling'er said admiringly.
"Thank you for the compliment!"
"Has the woman outside left?" Chu Feng asked.
"She's no longer nearby — she should have gone," Ling'er replied.
"Good! Then I'll head out first."
The star world was depleted, making cultivation here impossible. Chu Feng wanted to venture out and seek a Fortuitous Encounter to grow stronger quickly.
With that, Chu Feng bid farewell to Ling'er and returned to the outside world.
Outside, all was quiet.
Chu Feng swept his gaze around, then sprinted off toward the distant Dusk City.
Before the battle with Mu Qingyao, Kong Die had given Chu Feng an Inedia pill, which could sustain him without food for half a month.
However, the battle with Mu Qingyao had been so intense that it had drained his physical strength enormously — Chu Feng was now ravenously hungry!
He had to get into the city and find somewhere to have a proper meal!
Before long, Chu Feng entered Dusk City.
The moment he stepped inside, Chu Feng sensed a spiritual sense locking onto him.
"It's Mu Qingyao — that woman still hasn't left!"
Chu Feng muttered inwardly, yet felt not the slightest fear.
He looked completely different now. As long as he altered his voice, Mu Qingyao would never recognize him.
Chu Feng continued walking into the city without changing his expression, strolling along and looking around, playing the part of a visitor come to browse the streets.
"I heard a deranged female assassin has appeared recently — she's killed every beggar in several nearby cities!"
"Beggars? Why is this deranged female assassin targeting beggars?"
"No idea. Maybe some beggar offended her, and now all the beggars in the surrounding cities are suffering for it."
...
Chu Feng walked on, listening to the chatter of the passersby around him.
Suddenly, a breathtakingly beautiful figure with a veiled face stepped out and blocked his path!
