Chapter 4: The Chaos Star Pearl

"Who are you?"

Chu Feng stared at the woman with a face full of astonishment.

He had searched for a long time earlier and found no signs of life whatsoever.

How was it that after one nap, a mysterious woman had appeared?

Chu Feng wondered if he hadn't fully woken up yet — perhaps he was still dreaming.

But he pinched himself hard, and the sharp pain told him clearly: this was no dream.

"I am the spirit of the Chaos Star Pearl. You may call me Ling'er!"

The woman broke into a smile — a beauty so breathtaking it could stop a man's heart.

"The Chaos Star Pearl?"

Chu Feng was puzzled. How exactly had he ended up inside this so-called Chaos Star Pearl?

"Yes! The mark on your hand — that is the Chaos Star Pearl!" Ling'er said with a light laugh.

Hearing this, Chu Feng immediately raised his hand to look.

There on his right palm, etched into the skin, was a strange mark in the shape of a pearl.

"How did it follow me here?"

This mysterious pearl mark was something Chu Feng had obtained in his previous life from an ancient ruin.

At the deepest part of that ruin, he had discovered a strange pearl.

The moment he reached out to take it, the pearl vanished inexplicably — and this odd mark appeared on his palm in its place.

After leaving the ruin, Chu Feng had spent years studying the mark but never discovered any use for it.

He couldn't erase it either, so eventually he stopped paying it any mind.

He never imagined that this mysterious pearl mark would follow him into his reincarnation.

Could it be that his rebirth was because of this pearl?

"This pearl... what does the Chaos Star Pearl do?" Chu Feng looked up at Ling'er and asked.

"So every time I'm in danger, it can save me?"

Chu Feng's heart leapt with joy.

If the Chaos Star Pearl could save him every time he faced danger, wouldn't that make him practically unkillable?

"Don't get your hopes up. The Chaos Star Pearl can only save its master five times. Once those five chances are used up, that's it." Ling'er said, clearly unamused.

"Oh." Chu Feng was mildly disappointed.

"How do I leave this star world, and how do I enter it again next time?" Chu Feng continued.

"Now that I've awakened, our minds are linked as one. From now on, you can enter whenever you wish and leave whenever you wish." Ling'er said.

"That incredible? Let me try!"

With that, Chu Feng willed himself to leave.

In an instant, he appeared in the outside world.

The ruined temple had been completely leveled to the ground.

Chu Feng swept a glance around, then immediately re-entered the star world.

He had just remembered that Mu Qingyao might still be outside.

Fortunately, Mu Qingyao had already left — otherwise, she would have cut him down with her sword the moment he appeared.

Yet the moment Chu Feng re-entered the star world, Mu Qingyao suddenly appeared in the sky above the ruined temple.
